BESIKTAS VS PORTO
- UEFA Champions League | Borussia Dortmund VS Real Madrid; Sunday 02 June at 03:00 GMT +8
- UEFA Champions League | Real Madrid VS Bayern Munich; Thursday, 09 May at 03:00 GMT +8
- UEFA Champions League | Paris St-Germain VS Borussia Dortmund; Wednesday, 08 May at 03:00 GMT +8
This Champions League group always had the potential to throw up some surprises, and that’s definitely turned out to be the case. Last season’s goal machines Monaco were made favourites for the top spot despite losing many of their top players, whilst RB Leipzig enter the competition for the first time in their history along with the unpredictable Porto and Besiktas.
Nobody quite expected this level of shock though. Coming into the final two rounds of games Besiktas sit comfortably at the top of the group, and a win on Tuesday would guarantee them the top spot. They are four points ahead of 2nd placed Porto, with RB Leipzig lagging behind in 3rd and group favourites Monaco sitting on a tally of just two points.
One of those points came against Besiktas at the start of November, but prior to that the Turkish champions beat the Ligue 1 winners 2-1 in France and have also managed victories away to Porto and at home to RB Leipzig.
Porto are definitely looking in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages, but they are by no means safe. They have this incredibly tough fixture first and then end the group stage at home to Monaco, who, despite their poor performance so far, have all the talent to punish any team in the world.
The visitors’ last away day in the Champions League came in Germany as they faced RB Leipzig, and they came away from that on the end of a 3-2 defeat. The fact they lost at home to Besiktas will be damaging to their morale as well.
Cenk Tosun scored for Besiktas in that reverse fixture, and once again he’s the man to watch. He has scored four in four in the Champions League this season and has added another five in the Turkish Super Lig, so backing him to find the net looks the best option for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
We can be fairly certain of goals at both ends of the pitch here. Besiktas have scored eight Champions League goals this season but have only kept one clean sheet, whilst Porto have notched nine but have shipped seven at the other end too. Between them they’ve seen 27 goals in their eight combined games, so backing Both Teams to Score looks a great option here.
In the end Besiktas should be able to get another home win here, so we’re also going for Besiktas and Both Teams to Score alongside a 3-1 correct score predictions.
HEAD TO HEAD
Porto have won two, drawn three, and lost one of their six previous meetings with Besiktas, with each of the last three seeing both teams find the net.
BESIKTAS VS PORTO STATS
Key Man
In the reverse fixture back in Portugal, the Turks were led by great forward play by all. Quaresma and Babel chipped in in the win, but the man between them has been the truly superb player that has given them their bite. That man is Cenk Tosun, the 26 year old Turk. He has four goals in the competition so far, and he’ll look to continue that one a game clip in this home match.
