Georgia, having finished 4th in the EURO Qualifiers, is seeking their first major tournament appearance. Despite their struggles, Crusaders secured a historic appearance in the EURO Playoffs by winning UEFA Nations League C. They defeated Luxembourg in the Semi-Finals and now face Greece.
Greece, the 2004 EURO Champions, have not qualified for the Euro and World Cup in two years. They finished 3rd in the EURO Qualifiers, but won UEFA Nations League C against Kosovo, Northern Ireland, and Cyprus. They won a big win against Kazakhstan in the Semi-Finals, but their final game against Georgia will be more challenging.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Napoli’s top player, will be available for the Greece game after serving a one-game suspension against Luxembourg, a significant boost for the Crusaders.
Gustavo Poyet, who is set to expire his contract on 31st March 2024, plans to maintain his 4-3-3 attacking formation against Georgia. He expressed his desire to stay in Greece and aim to return to EURO on the 20th anniversary of winning the title.
