Finally Barcelona has chosen a replacement

Tottenham ace Dele Alli targeted by Barcelona after they cashed in on £198m Neymar

Spurs are keen to prove they are no longer a selling club but Barca are weighing up a bid for England playmaker

BARCELONA are preparing to launch a surprise raid for Dele Alli, according to reports.

After selling Neymar for a world record fee to Paris Saint-Germain last Thursday, the Catalans have £198million to play with.

And Alli is the latest player to be identified as Neymar’s possible replacement according to the Express.

It is a shock move from Barcelona, but the Spaniards are said to have had their eyes on the 21-year-old midfielder for the past year, long before Neymar’s exit.

The La Liga giants can promise wages well beyond what the Spurs can afford to offer their brightest young talent.

Alli is currently far down on the list of top earners at White Hart Lane and Barca have the means to offer him much more than Spurs’ current most expensive contract – Harry Kane’s £120,000-a-week deal.

However Tottenham have been under fire this summer for selling but not buying and the London club wish to prove their remaining players are not for sale.

Chairman Daniel Levy expecially wants to keep Alli, a valuable asset who scored 18 league goals last season and was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year in both of his seasons at White Hart Lane.

The England international is joined on Barcelona’s shopping list by Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

They were also rumoured to be looking into a blockbuster deal to bring in Juventus’ Paulo Dybala in a player-plus-cash deal involving Andre Gomes and Rafinha.
