Huddersfield picked up a crucial win at the weekend as they beat fellow promotees Brighton at the John Smiths Stadium, a 2-0 win that was all thanks to Steve Mounie’s fantastic brace. The Terriers now sit up in 11th position in the table, but the five point gap between them and the drop zone is anything but secure at the moment.

Prior to this Huddersfield had lost four in a row in the Premier League, with only a couple of excellent victories and their blistering start to life in the top flight keeping them in a respectable position. However, that weekend victory should spur them on to greater things during this busy festive period, and the fact they have already secured three points at home to Manchester United this season, shows that they have what it takes to compete with the big boys.

Chelsea are floundering at the moment as well. They suffered a shock defeat away to West Ham on Saturday, losing 1-0 against a side residing in the bottom three and who were in terrible form. The Hammers had the worst defensive record in the league heading into that match, but still managed to hold on to their early lead.

This followed their 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid last week, which saw them fail to take the top spot in their Champions League group. They may be the reigning Premier League champions, but they certainly aren’t playing like it at the moment.

Away from home The Blues have failed to win three times this season, but that defeat at West Ham was the first time they’ve failed to get on the scoresheet on the road. They will fancy their chances of getting back to scoring ways against Huddersfield, but the fact Chelsea have only kept three clean sheets on the road is a big worry for Antonio Conte.

Huddersfield may have been in poor form recently, but at home they have won three of their last four games, only failing against a Manchester City side who left it very late to get a winner. The Terriers have scored in all but two of their home games this season as well, so backing Both Teams to Score could be a very good move here. In the end we’re expecting a stalemate though, and the best value looks to lie in the 1-1 correct score predictions.

Steve Mounie will be the man that Huddersfield look towards for their goal. The 23 year old bagged a brace at the weekend to make it four Premier League goals for the season despite only starting six games, so backing him to get on the scoresheet looks great value.
