Leicester vs Tottenham Hotspur – Blue Foxes and The Spurs – who will win the game???

TEAM NEWS

Tottenham’s attacking midfielder Erik Lamela is available for the first time in 13 months, having finally returned to fitness after surgery on both hips.

Full-back Danny Rose is likely to be recalled but Harry Winks is a doubt because of illness.

Leicester manager Claude Puel has reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of Tuesday’s visit of Tottenham.

Long-term absentees Robert Huth and Matty James are the only players unavailable to the Frenchman.

MOTD COMMENTATOR’S NOTES

Conor McNamara: “The last competitive game at Filbert Street was a Leicester win against Tottenham. Leicester haven’t been able to beat Spurs at home in the league since.

“The most recent meeting, in May, was Leicester’s heaviest Premier League home defeat.

“Back then, when Harry Kane was scoring four in a 6-1 drubbing, who would have thought that Tottenham would be 13 points off the pace 13 games into the new campaign?

“With just one win in their last five domestic games, even Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Spurs’ title hopes look remote.”

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Leicester City manager Claude Puel: “It’s important to look for evolution in the style of our play. It’s beneficial when the players can find different opportunities in attack.

“We must try to play our own game and it will be good to see our progress under pressure against a good opponent. It’s a good challenge for us.”

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: “Manchester City have improved a lot from last season. The gap is massive but we will see what happens.

“We need to believe and try to win games. If we don’t win [against Leicester] – it is difficult to be a contender.”

LAWRO’S PREDICTION

Leicester manager Claude Puel has only lost one of his first four games in charge, but I would back Spurs to bounce back with a win – as they did after losing at Manchester United and Arsenal.

Prediction: 0-2

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Leicester lost this fixture 6-1 in May, suffering their heaviest home defeat in the Premier League.
  • Spurs are unbeaten in all four of their Premier League matches at the King Power Stadium, winning three of those games.
  • The Foxes’ last top-flight home victory against Spurs was a 2-1 win in the final competitive fixture at Filbert Street in May 2002.

Leicester City

  • The Foxes have drawn five of their last nine top-flight matches, winning two and drawing two.
  • Leicester have lost three Premier League games at home this season – only Swansea, with five defeats, have a worse record.
  • They have lost 10 of 11 league matches in 2017 against the sides that finished in the top six last season. The exception was February’s 3-1 home victory against Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur

  • Defeat would see Spurs lose three consecutive Premier League away games for the first time since under Tim Sherwood in March 2014.
  • Tottenham have only won one of their last four Premier League games, having won their previous four.
  • They have 24 points after 13 matches, equalling their tally at this stage in each of the last two seasons.
  • Harry Kane has scored more league and cup goals against Leicester than any other side, netting 10 times in nine games against the Foxes (including one goal while on loan at Millwall).
