Silva eyes more City success

David Silva is targeting more trophies with Manchester City after signing a new one-year deal extension until summer 2020.

The 31-year-old Spain international midfielder, who joined City from Valencia in 2010 for £24million, has already enjoyed success at the Etihad Stadium with two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups.

However, having played his part in City’s impressive start to the season, with eight eight assists to date, as the side sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and have sealed their place in the last-16 of the Champions League, Silva is targeting more silverware.

“I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved at City in my seven-and-a-half seasons here and with Pep in charge, I feel we are in a great position to win trophies this season and beyond,” he said.

“The style of football we are playing is a pleasure to be a part of and I look forward to winning more titles in the years to come.”

City director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “We are very pleased with this announcement.

“Not only has David Silva been central to the club’s success over recent years, he remains one of the team’s key players.

“He has shown again this season that he is the best creative midfielder in English football and he will be very important in developing our talented young players in the coming years.”

City are 1/10 to win the Premier League this season, while they are available at 9/2 to win the Champions League.
